Wedding Décor & Floristry: An Interview with Luisa from fein&festlich
Luisa from Marburg is the face behind fein&festlich. With plenty of heart and attention to detail, she creates wedding décor and floristry tailored to each couple and venue, designed to leave lasting memories.

What should couples consider first when planning their wedding décor?
For me, cohesive wedding décor always begins with the question: How do you want your wedding to feel?
Before choosing individual flowers, colours or decorative elements, you should think about the atmosphere you want for the day.
Of course, the venue, the season and the schedule for the wedding also play an important role. The décor should not only look beautiful, but should blend harmoniously into the existing surroundings and reflect the couple’s character.
What matters to me is that the final result creates an overall picture that makes you feel: “This is simply us.”

How do you find a style that suits the couple, the venue and the budget?
I do not think you necessarily have to find a particular style or trend – it is far more important for the design to feel authentic to the couple.
Couples often tell me which colours they love, which flowers they like or which images particularly appeal to them. From there, a completely individual concept gradually takes shape.
The venue naturally plays a major role, too. Some spaces do not need much at all, while others can happily take a little more decoration.
And the budget should also be considered from the outset. I think it is important to work out together where it is worth adding accents that will have a real impact. There does not need to be something everywhere. Sometimes a beautifully designed table, special décor for the wedding ceremony or an abundant floral arrangement in the entrance area can achieve much more than lots of small details.

Which decorative elements have the greatest influence on the atmosphere?
Without a doubt: flowers and candlelight!
They transform a room incredibly powerfully and immediately create a particular mood.
I love that moment when I first see a fairly plain venue and it suddenly feels completely different through the floristry and décor. That is precisely what makes my work so special to me.
Table décor in particular plays a major role because guests spend many hours there. But the ceremony area, the couple’s place or individual floral highlights can also create beautiful focal points.
For me, décor does not always have to be abundant. A minimalist design can also look very elegant and distinctive when the colours, materials, flowers and lighting are well coordinated.

Which wedding trends are you seeing at the moment – and what remains timelessly beautiful?
The trend is clearly moving towards lighter, airier and more artistic floristry.
Arrangements can look more natural and untamed, with plenty of movement and a certain lightness.
I personally love this style because it means flowers no longer have to look so rigid and perfect, but are free to show their own unique beauty.
Seasonal floristry is also becoming increasingly important. Using flowers that suit the time of year not only creates a natural and authentic atmosphere, but also gives the design its own distinctive character.
In floral installations, I am currently seeing a particularly large number of asymmetrical and organic shapes. Instead of aligning everything rigidly, the floristry is free to break away and move.
Silver is also making a comeback: silver accents, mirror-effect metallics and classic silver cutlery are becoming more popular again, increasingly replacing gold as the favourite metallic choice for décor.
Despite all these trends, however, there are things that never go out of style for me: a harmonious colour palette, beautiful candlelight and, above all, a design that suits the couple.
Trends can provide inspiration – but a wedding is always at its most beautiful when you can recognise the couple’s personality in it.

Which mistakes or difficulties arise most often when planning the décor?
I think the biggest challenge is the incredible amount of inspiration available to couples today. Pinterest, Instagram and the like are wonderful, but sometimes you see so many beautiful things that you want everything at once. It is easy to lose sight of the common thread.
Photos can sometimes be deceptive, too. Décor that looks beautiful in a particular venue and in particular lighting will not automatically work in exactly the same way somewhere else. That is why it is so important to take the venue, the lighting conditions and the existing features into account.
And that is exactly where I am very happy to support my couples. I do not simply want to “put up some decorations” for them; I want to work with them to discover what suits them and what will make their big day truly special.
Because ultimately, it should not be about whether every napkin is folded perfectly. It is about the two of them looking around, seeing their wedding and thinking: “Wow – this is our day.”
And those are precisely the moments I love about my work.
